Currently Samsung's folding screen phones only come in two models, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, and NOTEBOOKCHECK has news that Samsung is planning to expand the Galaxy Z series. While Samsung hasn't faced much competition in the global smartphone market in recent years, the competitiveness of Samsung's Galaxy Z series of products has been weakened in 2023 as folding-screen phones from OnePlus and Motorola hit the market globally.
According to Trendforce, both Samsung and Huawei are planning to launch more competitively priced foldable phones starting in 2024, but the site hasn't provided any information about the new models yet, nor has it confirmed whether Samsung's new foldable model will be part of the Galaxy Z series. However, X blogger @Tech_Reve has also revealed the new Samsung folding screen model, saying that Samsung's "mid-range folding screen phone" will be priced between $400-$500 (roughly Rs. 2,919-3,648).
As of press time, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 country line price of ￥12999 yuan, Galaxy Z Flip 5 country line price of ￥7499 yuan. From this analysis, it's unlikely that Samsung's upcoming mid-range foldable-screen phone will be a new model of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 or Galaxy Z Flip 5, or else it will undercut the price of the next flagship model in the Galaxy Z series on its own. Therefore, the new model revealed by Trendforce and @Tech_Reve is likely to be a foldable-screen "FE" model, after all, Samsung is currently very keen on launching cheaper versions of its flagships, i.e. the "FE" series. Samsung's mid-range foldable phone is expected to be released in the late summer of 2024, and some media outlets are speculating that it will be called the "Galaxy Z Flip6 FE".
