The most effective account protection method at this stage is "double verification". I believe everyone should be used to enabling this feature in their accounts! To put it simply, double verification is to add another verification code protection in addition to the password. The verification code is generated through the application and received by SMS or phone, which can prevent the password from being stolen, and the stolen account will be used to obtain permissions when the password is cracked.

In the early days of Facebook, there was a built-in " code generator " tool in the application , which is a two-step verification security mechanism. When users log in to Facebook on a computer, they will be required to enter a random six-digit verification code displayed by the code generator on the mobile phone. , but as times change, the Facebook code generator is about to go into history. Some accounts have already had a "code generator (disabled)" notification. If you still use this function for verification, remember to change it to other verification as soon as possible In this way, the code generator cannot be used and the Facebook account cannot be logged in and accessed.

Later, Facebook made the code generator more and more secretive, and it was even easy to find this function, which added a lot of trouble to users.

At present, Facebook two-factor authentication supports verification applications (such as Google Authenticator, Duo Mobile or Authy, etc.), SMS SMS and physical security keys (such as YubiKey). Add a SMS verification method to avoid failure to obtain the verification code when the phone is lost or damaged.

Set up two-factor authentication in the mobile app

STEP 1

Open the Facebook app on your mobile phone, click the " Menu " in the lower right corner, and then click the " Settings " button in the upper right corner, then click the " Password and Account Security " option under the account , and then you can find the " Use Two-Factor Authentication " function from the bottom .

STEP 2

Choose to use the " Verification App " to generate a verification code. This is the easiest, convenient and fast option. Everyone should have their own verification code app on their mobile phones! After entering, there will be a QR code. If you set it on the same device, click " Configure on the same device " below to automatically bring the code into the verification application. In this way, the configuration is successfully completed!

If it is set on other devices, scan the QR code with the camera to add the code to the verification application.

Three reasons why it's worth a try:

  • Double verification provides additional verification code protection, effectively preventing account theft when the password is stolen or cracked

  • The Facebook code generator will be discontinued, remember to change to another 2FA method

  • Set multiple verification methods to avoid failure to obtain verification codes when the phone is lost or damaged
