Record screen and sound on Mac

by Technical otaku - 2022-09-24 2165 0 2

Today, I trained my colleagues on the introductory knowledge of Golang and asked to record the screen and sound. Record the recording method here.

1. Use the built-in QuickTime Player to record screen and sound.

File -> New Screen Recording, click the small triangle, choose the Macbook Pro microphone for the microphone, or gather the device

2. After saving, it is a relatively large file in mov format, which can be converted to mp4 format with HandBrake or VLC to reduce the size. 1.72G becomes 223M.

HandBrake is a tool for converting video from nearly any format to a selection of modern, widely supported codecs.

Reasons you'll love HandBrake:

Convert video from nearly any format
Free and Open Source
Multi-Platform (Windows, Mac and Linux)

VLC: Go to "File" > "Convert / Stream..."

1. Download and install soundflower, you can go to Baidu to search or download it directly from my oneindex: Soundflower download (extraction code: newlearner). Install as shown below.

After the installation is complete, find the [Other] folder in the launchpad and open the audio [MIDI settings]

After entering [Audio MIDI Settings], click the + in the lower left corner, "Create Multi-Output Device".

Then select the [built-in output] and soundflower (2ch) inside, as shown in the figure.

soundflower (2ch) means two-channel, don't choose wrong.

Open the macOS settings, select [Sound] - Output, and then select Multi-Aggregate Devices

After configuration, you can open QuickTime Player, go to the upper left corner of the screen - [File] - [New Audio Recording]. After opening, as shown in the figure below, when there is sound input from the computer or headphones, you can see the fluctuation of the level. At this time, click the record button. Please set the volume to zero on the bottom line of the QuickTime Player interface, otherwise there will be an echo in the recording.
